I appreciate Peter Finney, Jr.’s straightforward coverage of Corpus Christi, in which the archbishop mentioned racism and left us with words of hope depending on our involvement.
I am a child of the ‘50s, born into an integrating New Orleans during the Civil Rights movement, coming of age during the era of the Vietnam War, Muhammad Ali and Martin Luther King.
I’m a great grandmother whose little ones are now grown and have babies of their own. I read the November pages of Kids’ Clarion in its entirety and enjoyed it so much, especially the articles about St. Louis King of France students visiting the seminary, the Immaculate Conception School program that allows students to read to shelter dogs, and the Donut Man’s program for St. Ann children.
I address this letter to the Clarion Herald, because although I feel compelled to state these words, I don’t know where to aim the message. Our main focus for amends and healing should be the primary victims of the religious sexual abuse scandal, those who experienced horrific abuse and their families who must deal with the outcomes.
I am just getting around to reading past issues of the Clarion Herald after a busy Lenten and first half of Easter seasons, so this comes a bit late but may help in the future.
Please convey to Tamara Labat that people she doesn’t know will now be praying for her to conceive and carry a healthy baby. I’ve been in a Bible study for over six years, and we’ve been prayer warriors for a number of local women who struggled with infertility, multiple miscarriages, etc. Jesus answered our prayers and they all have babies now. One even has twin baby girls on Christmas Day a few years ago. So we will take on Tamara to pray for now. Tell her God’s timing is perfect, and it will happen in his perfect time.
