The annual Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration of couples married 50 years or longer was celebrated recently at St. Philip Neri Church in Metairie. The Clarion Herald invited several of the nearly 200 couples celebrating this year to tell us what the secret was to a long marriage.

On May 15, Ascension of Our Lord, Knights of Columbus, Council 9623, awarded Katherine Bergeron with a plaque as the winner of the International Soccer Challenge Competition at her seventh-grade graduation. Katherine placed first in the 13-year-old age group of the local soccer competition, first in the Archdiocesan Soccer Challenge Competition and first at State Soccer Challenge. Her winning totals were deemed best in the world in the 13-year-old age group.
St. Mary’s Dominican High School juniors earned 34 book awards from 29 universities and colleges in recognition of academic excellence, strong character and commitment to community service. St. Mary’s Dominican High School honored spring student athletes with the 2018-2019 Lou Reilly Memorial Awards for continually try to improve their skills and who have listened to their coaches and teammates. Each recipient was recognized for encouraging those playing while she is not in the game, and, when playing, giving her full effort at each moment.

When I married my wife nearly 12 years and four kids ago, there was no way I could have been prepared for what God had in store for us.
