Xavier University offers free tax help

    The Xavier University of Louisiana Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site is offering free tax preparation and electronic filing of federal and Louisiana income tax returns through April 17 to residents of Louisiana who earned less than $50,000 in 2011.
    The VITA site is located in the X-Ncubator in Xavier South (Room 211), 909 South Jefferson Davis Parkway. The service is offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. Call 520-5101 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
