An Aug. 18 eucharistic prayer walk in the neighborhood surrounding St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Orleans is part of a growing effort to fight crime by taking Christ’s healing presence to the streets.
Dominican Father John Restrepo, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua, issued a rallying cry to local Catholics for a march against violence at a Mass Aug. 18.
“Take the peace we experience in church to the street,” Father Restrepo said. “What we experience in church, we cannot keep it in; we must take it out. We love Jesus so much that we take him to the streets.”
