Athletes from New Orleans- area Catholic schools won 11 individual events and swept the three relays at the annual Ronnie Doyle Classic on March 16 on the Tad Gormley oval.
Archbishop Rummel’s Jermie Walker won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 10.90 and 22.08, respectively.
John Curtis was highest scoring team with 139 points, most of which were scored in field events.
Rummel’s second-place 97 points were aided with wins by Ja’Marr Chase in the long jump (21-6 1/4) and Patrick Wyatt’s vault of 12-6.
The Holy Cross trio of Blake Baldassaro (3,200-meter run); Isiah Bentrix (110-meter hurdles) and Raymond Williams (300-meter hurdles) earned first-place medals, as did the Tigers’ 400-meter relay team.
Jesuit scored wins in middle-distance running events, behind the top finishes of Reed Meric in the 400-meter dash and Eli Sisung in the 800. The Blue Jays also won the 800-meter relay.
Latrelle Jones of Archbishop Shaw leaped 41-6 to win the triple jump event.
