Father Tony Ricard, pastor of Our Lady Star of the Sea, was a featured evangelist during an April 15-18 St. Raymond-St. Leo the Great tent revival called “It’s a Love Thing.” Father Ricard shared a riveting story about how his father overcame his troubles with alcohol through love and family prayer. “I don’t mind telling people how much God loves me,” Father Ricard said. “I know what it’s like to come out of a tough moment, like some of the young men in this world, hoping your daddy would be there. But, in the midst of it all, the one thing my momma made sure was that we never, ever, felt like we weren’t loved. And, we understood prayer. Every night my momma hit my daddy with holy water. She prayed over him. Holy water worked, because right now my daddy’s on 33 years of sobriety. That’s the power of prayer.”
