Cabrini feeds those in need
Cabrini High School students, faculty, staff, parents and alumnae served lunch at the St. Jude Community Center on June 16 and July 21. Cabrini students spend many hours in service at St. Jude Community Center, a tradition many remember as the most rewarding experiences during their high school education. They do it in honor of Cabrini founder, St. Frances Cabrini. St. Jude Community Center on Rampart Street feeds more than 200 people daily. Marianite Sister Beth Mouch and a staff of six run the center, which is dependent on volunteers.

Digging for bones
St. Scholastica Academy science teacher David Arbo sifts creek sediment in search of fossils at the recent LaURGE workshop for teachers at Tulane University. The program included collecting fossils near Jackson, Miss., and categorizing them in the lab at Tulane. Various shark teeth and other fossils were collected from species that are now extinct, and these were compared with modern animals. Supplies were provided for teachers to use in instructing students on the concepts of evolution.
