SUGGESTIONS FROM PRIESTS

Several suggestions for action surfaced over the three days:
➤ Hold another clergy convocation next year around the topics of generational, ecclesiological, racial or ethnic differences.
➤ Prepare for an archdiocesan synod that would help set vision and goals for the future. Archbishop Aymond said groundwork for a synod is being done.
➤ Consider more frequent use of lay parish administrators to help with the business end of running the parish.
➤ Make a more conscious effort to include permanent deacons as part of a pastor’s collaborative ministry.
➤ Create a priests’ “council of elders” who would be available on a regular basis to meet with seminarians and recently ordained priests.
➤ Ask Archbishop Aymond to host a series of lunches with a diverse group of priests for continuing dialogue.
➤ Set up more regular meetings between Archbishop Aymond and the provincials of the various men’s religious communities who serve in the archdiocese.
➤ Provide inculturation workshops for foreign-born priests.
➤ Make a priest psychologist available to those who are struggling with depression, loneliness or addiction.
