St. Timothy Award bestowed upon 23 Catholic teens

Behind the masks are the faces of charity and service. The CYO/Youth and Young Adult Ministry bestowed the St. Timothy Award on 23 teenagers who have excelled in volunteer service to their Catholic church, school and community July 11 at Divine Mercy Church in Kenner.
 
The awards at the CYO’s 59th Annual Leadership Celebration were presented by Archbishop Gregory Aymond to the following: Mary Grace Collins, Immaculate Conception; Debbie White, Most Holy Trinity; Marley Arnaud, Office of Black Catholic Ministries; Lauren Nash, St. Mary Magdalen; Meaghan Jones, St. Joseph the Worker; Emily Dieu, St. Clement of Rome; Rebecca Dobson, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Belle Chasse; Ford Favre Jr., Our Lady of Lourdes, Slidell; Kurt Werling, St. Dominic; Matthew Lulich, St. Angela Merici; Emmanuel Levy, St. Clement of Rome; Leigha Story, St. Angela Merici; Cassidy Chappuis, St. John of the Cross; Nathalie Wagoner, Ascension of Our Lord; Marin Trepagnier, St. Matthew the Apostle; Mac McCabe, St. Clement of Rome; Blake Bollinger, Mary, Queen of Peace; John Virga IV , St. Benilde; Alan Bui, St. Luke the Evangelist; Ty O’Connor, St. Gabriel the Archangel; Trent Burke, St. Peter Claver; Nicholas Flynn, St. Benilde; Kendal Rowan, St. Joseph the Worker. Unable to attend the awards ceremony was Benjamin Gervais of St. Peter Parish in Covington.
 
“I am delighted and filled with hope when I see the many ways in which you give of yourselves so charitably in your faith community throughout our archdiocese,” Archbishop Aymond told the award winners. “In these unpredictable days, I am grateful to God for the opportunity to publicly thank you for your commitment to the body of Christ. Your constant witness as young leaders in the community serves as a sign to me of great hope for our world today.”
 
The CYO also presented the Adult Service Award for those serving in youth ministry for five years or more; the Matt Hill Award for excellence in leadership through athletics; and the Parish Youth Leadership Award.
 
The St. Timothy Award is sponsored by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry. It is a national award that recognizes at the diocesan level youth who exemplify Christian service, Catholic leadership and good moral standards. The recipients are not only outstanding in service to their church parish but also to the larger archdiocesan community. These individuals have displayed high ideals and have grown spiritually while offering their time and talents in the service of the church parish and the community at large.
