St. Scholastica Academy cut the ribbon Nov. 28 on an addition to its 10.5-acre Athletic Complex off campus on Highway 190 in Covington. The building includes a new concession stand, locker rooms, restrooms and a press box. The complex was first dedicated in 2000 and has a track, softball field and soccer field. It is the only such facility for an all-girls’ school in the state, according to president Marguerite Celestin.
Seniors Ashley Pribyl and Claire Masson help paint the window of a Madisonville house as part of SSA’s volunteer service day. Students and faculty worked at several locations, coordinated by Youth Rebuilding New Orleans. Students repaired houses in Madisonville damaged by Hurricane Isaac and also helped out at Second Harvest Food Bank and Danielle Inn. In addition, students facilitated a freshman retreat.
