St. Pius X School in New Orleans offered a complimentary academic enrichment program to its incoming first through seventh graders who wanted to brush up on their math, reading and English skills over the summer.
The two-week-long program, dubbed “Summer Bridge,” also gave participating students, administrators, faculty and staff opportunities to practice new campus-wide safety protocols that will be in place when the 2020-21 school year begins later this month.
New procedures and upgrades include touch-free temperature checks upon arrival, mask-wearing, hand sanitization stations outside all classrooms and other other campus locations, the installation of sneeze guards in classrooms with tables, and touchless water stations at which students will be able to refill their reusuable water bottles.
