Three St. Paul honors students who will graduate in 2020 achived a perfect 36 on the national ACT achievement test. They are: James Bradford, Brenden Dauterive and Benjamin Klein.
James Bradford, son of Jim and Charlotte Bradford of Covington, plays competitive soccer for the MSC Lakers Elite ’02 and is member of the St. Paul’s State Champion Team for 2019. He was named to the 2019 All-District Team and is a member of the National Honor Society. He also competes in Mu Alpha Theta national math honor society tournaments, and serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at school Masses and at the Our Lady of Peace Chapel. He has attended Tulane University School of Medicine Camp Neuro and plans to study biology and statistics in college.
Brenden Dauterive, son of Michael and Shelly Dauterive of Covington, is also a National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta member. He was on St. Paul’s 2019 state champion baseball team. He has accumulated numerous service hours working at Pelican Park coaching baseball and basketball and works diligently with the Miracle League Baseball Program, receiving the Order of St. La Salle Award for service for two years. In college, he plans to major in aerospace engineering.
Benjamin Klein, son of Sean and Shawn Klein of Mandeville, is also a member of the National Honor Society and works with St. Paul’s Chapter of Habitat for Humanity building houses. He is a member of the HOSA group – a national organization for high school students interested in the medical profession – and, this recent summer, was an instructor for St. Paul’s Biomedical Science Camp. He was a member of the St. Paul’s district and parish track and field team participating in the triple jump.
Karen Brantely and John Bourgeois
In addition, John Paul Bourgeois, a 2019 St. Paul graduate and honor student, received the DAR Wharton Chapter of Covington’s “Good Citizen Award“ based on his winning essay, “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It.” Recipients of the DAR Good Citizen Award demonstrate dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Only one Good Citizen per year is selected from the senior class of an accredited high school. John Paul is pictured with Karen Brantely, the representative of the Wharton Chapter, at a recent President’s Assembly where the presentation was made.
