Wendy Usannaz, who has directed the St. Cletus Summer Camp in Gretna for the last three years, said there is one over-arching goal of the St. Cletus experience.
“Parents love it because their children go home tired at the end of the day,” said Usannaz, a kindergarten assistant, with a laugh. “We have one camper who wants to come to camp on Saturdays and Sundays, just so he can stay busy.”
Among the distinguishing features of the St. Cletus Summer Camp is that breakfast and lunch is included for every camper in the $125 weekly tuition, which is another great convenience for parents.
The camp for boys and girls ages 5-13 will run weekly sessions from June 4-July 14, and the camp day goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge for before-care, starting at 7 a.m., and extended care is available for a fee until 6 p.m.
There also is a separate camp for younger children, ages 3-4, who are already enrolled in St. Cletus School. The older campers take a field trip every week, and they swim three times a week at the Woodland West Swim Club in Harvey.
Registration dates are May 21 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is $35 per family if paid by May 27, and $50 after that. Weekly rates are $125 for the first camper and multi-child discounts.
