On March 11, the Sisters of the Holy Family celebrated the 150th anniversary of the opening of St. Mary’s Academy with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond (seen below greeting everyone after Mass).
The school began in the French Quarter and moved to New Orleans East in 1965. “For the past we give thanks to God. For what lies ahead for St. Mary’s Academy, we trust in the Lord,” Archbishop Aymond said.
Sister Clare of Assisi Pierre, St. Mary’s president, said Mother Henriette Delille, Sisters of the Holy Family founder, was smiling on them.
