Eight Sisters of the Holy Family will celebrate a combined total of 475 years of consecrated life in service to the people of God at a Mass of Thanksgiving June 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd., New Orleans.
Sister Mary Joseph Angela Parker, celebrating 75 years, is a native of New Orleans who grew up in St. Joan of Arc Parish and was taught by the Sisters of the Holy Family. Her desire grew to serve God in the same manner. Sister has taught in both elementary and secondary schools in Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. She served 33 years as a teacher and administrator at St. Mary’s Academy. She is fondly remembered by her students as Sister “Jo.”
