Dominican Sister of Peace Gloria Moreno died Feb. 7 in Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Ky. She was 88 and had served with the Eucharistic Missionaries of St. Dominic since 1948.
A native of Tucson, Ariz., Sister Gloria earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Loyola University New Orleans and a master’s degree in spirituality from Duquesne University. Her principal and most beloved ministry within the Archdiocese of New Orleans was among the deaf community. She also ministered as a catechist and census taker in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and in the Diocese of Tucson.
Sister Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Claudine Moreno. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lydia Moreno, several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Feb. 12 at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel with burial in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
