The purpose of Ascension of Our Lord Silver Crusaders is to have a venue for senior citizens, 55 years and older, to meet, socialize and pursue mutual interests and activities. Volunteer opportunities for the church are available. Meetings are held on Wednesday afternoons and field trips scheduled accordingly.

The activities of the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Golden Agers include playing bingo and other games to stay active throughout the year. The group meets once a month to socialize and keep the mind active.

➤ Life & Lively Club
Meetings for the Life & Lively Club are held in the Pastoral Center at 1:30 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month. Refreshments and a game of bingo is held before the 4 p.m. Vigil Mass. There is also a bingo social in the Pastoral Center every first Friday of the month. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and games begin at noon. The group also participates in all parish events and does whatever it can for the parish in the way of donations.

➤ The Senior Citizens
The purpose of the Senior Citizens organization is to promote cultural and social enrichment for its members, to participate in archdiocesan senior citizen functions and to pursue the goals of the parish. They also are to provide occasional spiritual and cultural events for all seniors of the parish. The group volunteers at the parish fair and Gumbolaya and participates in activities such as the May Crowning and collecting food items for the poor. They meet the first Thursday of the month at noon.

Chers Amis is a social group open to people 50 years and older. Members meet on the second Tuesday of each month, except during the summer. Hospitality and activities both on- and off-campus are planned throughout the club year.

➤ Youthful Elders
This ministry is a group of parishioners, over the age of 55, who meet regularly and participate in social and spiritual activities. The group meets on the third Thursday of each month, at 1 p.m., in the Melancon Center for a brief business meeting followed by a social with refreshments and bingo. The club plans and organizes other monthly activities. Membership dues are $10 annually. Parishioners from other churches are welcome to join.

The mission of St. Edward the Confessor Hilltoppers is to provide a senior’s ministry for the parish with membership open to all Catholics, 55 years or older, monthly luncheon meetings and participation in parish and community activities.

The purpose of Golden Age is to foster good will and fellowship among seniors. In appreciation, the organization donates a yearly sum for the hall’s use and a donation to the pastor. The sum is set by the group, not by the parish. They donate to worthy causes as presented.

The purpose of the JOY (Just Older Youth) Ministry is to form a vibrant senior community centered on parish life. Through monthly activities, the ministry seeks to provide seniors with varied opportunities to develop spiritually, socially, physically and intellectually.

➤ Silver Trotters
The Silver Trotters is a social and service organization for individuals 50 and older. Various activities such as pot lucks, socials and bus trips are planned throughout the year. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month in the school gym at 7 p.m.
➤ Grandparent’s Club
The Grandparent’s Club was organized to help grandparents become involved in the lives of their grandchildren through school functions. Some examples of the organization’s activities are taking field trips, making baked goods and hosting an end of the year luncheon for the mothers involved in the Home & School Association.
