Teen speaks truth
Harahan
Re: “De La Salle student skewers media’s fake reality” (March 17, 2012)
Katie Hansche’s essay relative to the effects of the entertainment media is most praiseworthy. Her grasp of the overwhelming and growing problem of the negative and demeaning influence that television and contemporary society have upon teens is most relevant and well stated. By defining the problem so well, Katie Hansche is able to provide a better understanding for teens. They can realize that the media is not the last word in truth. Thank you for spotlighting a most important issue through the words of a very astute student.
It is hoped that this timely essay would be required reading for children and young adults in all schools. It is further hoped that it would be recommended to adults, especially parents, who are also being influenced by distorted “reality.”

Article well-received

I am writing to commend and express my gratitude for the beautiful article about Abbey Youth Fest in the March 17 issue of the Clarion Herald. Beth Donze’s detailed coverage of the day’s events was thorough and on the mark! This was my fifth Abbey Youth Fest and I am always inspired by the openness of our youth to God’s message and love for them. I wish everyone could witness this event! Ms. Donze’s account made it possible for those who did not attend to “be there” for a moment, especially with her account of keynote speaker Mark Hart’s presentation. Thank you and keep up the good work for our youth!

Seder story applauded
Belle Chasse
My sincere thanks to you on the wonderful, most informative article concerning our Seder Meal that Christine Bordelon wrote for the Clarion Herald April 7. The article could not have been written any better as she brought out so much information and details about our Seder meal. The photographs chosen complemented the article with the Seder plate and the washing of the hands by the participants. Many, many parishioners have told me what a great article it was! Father Billy and I thank you.
