The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a model for catechetical formation in the Catholic Church. Persons who go through the RCIA process usually enter into full communion with the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil.
In order to promote the effective implementation of the RCIA in our archdiocese, the Office of Religious Education (ORE) is initiating a series of workshops for all of those involved in any way with the RCIA, including pastors, parochial vicars, deacons, RCIA coordinators and team members (whether new to this ministry or experienced), godparents and sponsors.
The first workshop in the series, entitled “RCIA Essentials: Our Map for the Journey,” will be presented at the following locations on the dates indicated (all Saturdays), from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
➤ Sept. 29, Visitation of Our Lady Church in Marrero
➤ Oct. 27, St. Margaret Mary Church in Slidell
➤ Nov. 3, St. Catherine of Siena Church in Metairie
Cost for each participant is $15, which includes lunch. Preregistration is required by calling the ORE at 861-6270. Since space in each workshop session is limited, those interested are urged to preregister as soon as possible.
