Division I girls’ basketball teams have sat idly by waiting for their turn to compete in the LHSAA state basketball playoffs.
Maybe it’s a good thing they did not have to play a game before quarterfinal round.
Had there been a common playoff, their seedings would have looked quite different.
Dominican, the No. 3 seed that is scheduled to play No. Scotlandville at home on Feb. 23, would be a No. 18 seed and would travel to Southwood in Shreveport.
Mount Carmel, the No. 4 seed and host of No. 5 Evangel, would be the No. 22 seed and have to play at No. 11 Sulphur.
And Archbishop Chapelle, No. 7 in the Select bracket and facing a trip to Baton Rouge to meet No. 2 McKinley, would be a No. 30 seed. The Chipmunks would still have to play at McKinley, which would be a No. 3 seed in a common playoff.
