➤ Why did you choose this saint?: My uncle Steve wrote a letter when I was born which asked God to bless me, but he didn’t give it to me until I was preparing to be confirmed. When I did receive it, I was profoundly moved by an experience of God’s love and a gratitude for my uncle, who loved me before he even knew me. After that, I read the story of the newly ordained deacon Stephen in the Acts of the Apostles, and I knew I wanted the first martyr of the church to be my patron saint.
