Our Lady of Holy Cross College and Delgado Community College have teamed up for a second agreement allowing Delgado students who complete two-year associate degrees at Delgado to transfer their credits and pursue a bachelor’s degree at Our Lady of Holy Cross College.
The first agreement, made in March 2010, concerned a business administration degree. This second “2+2 articulation agreement” paves the way for Delgado graduates with two-year education degrees to transfer without losing credits to OLHCC to pursue a bachelor’s degree in education.
“Serving the broader community is fundamental to our mission here at Our Lady of Holy Cross College,” said Dr. Myles Seghers, interim president, “and developing effective partnerships with Delgado is an important objective for us.”
Department directors from both Our Lady of Holy Cross College and Delgado met to discuss curriculums to ensure there would be no loss of credits for students who transfer.
“With the community’s great need for the finest teachers in the K-12 grades, we hope to have an even greater impact by enabling Delgado graduates to easily transfer their credits as they pursue a bachelor’s degree at our college,” said Dr. Lisa Sullivan, OLHCC education department chair.
Delgado’s acting chancellor, Debbie Lea, thanked OL HCC and its representatives for their cooperation in offering her students this valuable opportunity.
“It is important that the path to higher education that starts at Delgado continues for many of our students at four-year institutions in the region,” Lea said.
A graduate of Our Lady of Holy Cross College who is the director of teacher education at Delgado already knows the benefits of a degree from OLHCC.
“My personal experience at OLHCC was fundamental to the career success I’ve experienced,” said Sean Martin. “I am very happy that Delgado students interested in the bachelor’s degree can fulfill their goals at such a fine institution.”
