OLHCC earns removal from censure

NEW ORLEANS – Our Lady of Holy Cross College (OLHCC) announces that it has been removed from censure by the American Association of University Professors (AAUP).  In an overwhelming positive vote, taken after a site visit and renewed commitment on OLHCC's part to organizational policy, AAUP voted June 15 to clear the college at its annual meeting in Washington, DC.     “This vote marks an important step for OLHCC as we move forward with our plans for new program development at the doctoral, master’s and undergraduate levels, amplified community engagement, mission integration with New Orleans’s archdiocesan, public and independent school systems and enhanced contributions to economic development in the city and region,” OLHCC President Ronald J. Ambrosetti, Ph.D., said.
   Dr. Ambrosetti said that getting the college off censure has been a priority since he joined OLHCC in 2012.  He worked with the college's AAUP chapter to revise the faculty handbook, and its new version fully commits the college to AAUP academic employment policies. 
   AAUP censured OLHCC in 2007 when the college’s former president terminated the employment of a professor who was head of the faculty Senate.  
   “OLHCC is on a pathway to progress, and we are overcoming any barrier that keeps us from growing in size and excellence.  We are committed to attracting new students and better serving our existing students and community,” Dr. Ambrosetti explains.
