April Hagadone, who led Mount Carmel Academy to a 44-4 record and the Division I runner-up trophy in the recent LHSAA/State Farm Volleyball Tournament, is named the Clarion Herald’s Elite Team Coach of the Year.
Hagadone has received this accolade four times.
She and her staff led the Cubs to the District 6-I championship and the No. 2 seed position for the playoffs.
During that run, Mount Carmel defeated Mandeville, 3-0; Barbe, 3-1 and district rival Archbishop Chapelle, 3-0, before losing the championship match to St. Joseph Academy in five grueling games.
➤ Paul Stanton Jr., from Jesuit High School’s class of 2012, was recently named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after he tied the Harvard record (Eddie Mahan in 1915) for touchdowns in “The Game” with four in the Crimson’s 34-7 win at Yale on Nov. 23. Stanton scored on rushes of 25 and 2 yards and receptions of 21 and 18 yards. He finished the game with 27 rushing attempts for 118 yards and four catches for 40 yards.
Stanton, a sophomore, finished the season third in the Ivy League with 936 yards and was second with 17 touchdowns.
