Salesian Sister Helene Godin, Principal, Immaculate Conception School, Marrero, earned a bachelor’s degree in education from William Paterson University in New Jersey and a master’s degree in curriculum and supervision from s University in New Jersey. She taught for 15 years on the elementary school level at St. Anthony School in Elizabeth, N.J.; Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Roseto, Pa.; Our Lady of Mercy School in Baton Rouge, La.; St. Ann School in Metairie and St. Gerard School in Paterson, N.J. She has served for 20 years as an elementary school principal at St. Theresa School in Kenilworth, N.J.; St. Mary School in Paterson, N.J.; Corpus Christi School in Port Chester, N.Y.; Mary Help of Christians School in New York and Villa Madonna School in Tampa, Fla. She served for five years as administrator of the Salesian Sisters Retirement Home in Haledon, N.J.
“I am very happy to be returning to the Archdiocese of New Orleans,” Sister Helene said. “I had some wonderful years here. I hope to keep up the high academic standards of Immaculate Conception School set by the previous administrations and nurture the family spirit that is so important to our Salesian charism.”
Susan B. Munster, Principal, St. Michael Special School, New Orleans, has served in the educational field since 1995. She taught special education English at Slidell High School for three years, then taught sixth and eighth grade English/Language Arts at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School in Mandeville. In 2004 she returned to Slidell High School as special education coordinator. Munster earned a B.A. from the University of New Orleans and a master of education plus 30 in education leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University.
“As the newest member of the St. Michael family, I look forward to watching the students grow in faith, knowledge and self-confidence through the guidance and leadership of the administration, faculty and staff who cherish their opportunities to nurture and educate Sister Lillian’s ‘blue roses,’” Munster said.
