The Archdiocese of New Orleans issued the following press release about the hiring of Christian Brother Gale Condit as president of Archbishop Rummel High School:
NEW ORLEANS – This afternoon, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Dr. Jan Lancaster, announced to the faculty and staff of Archbishop Rummel High School that Archbishop Gregory Aymond has named Christian Brother Gale Condit the new president of Archbishop Rummel High School.
“I am very pleased and excited that Brother Gale would choose to return to Archbishop Rummel in the role of president,” said Archbishop Aymond. “I believe this is a very good step forward for the Archbishop Rummel community, and a step forward that shows respect for the school’s past with a return of a Christian Brother to lead the school in the Lasallian tradition.”
After consultation with a search committee, Archbishop Aymond approached the Christian Brothers’ provincial in the fall to request that a Christian Brother, specifically Brother Gale, be made available to come to Archbishop Rummel High School as the new president.
Dr. Lancaster and Rummel principal Mr. Michael Scalco will introduce Brother Gale to the faculty and students Friday morning at a 7:45 a.m. school assembly. Mr. Scalco made the announcement by phone this evening to ARHS families, and a letter was posted on the website at www.rummelraiders.com.
Brother Gale first came to Archbishop Rummel as a student teacher in 1965. He returned as a teacher in the 1970s after spending time on the faculty of two other area Christian Brother schools, St. Paul’s School in Covington and De La Salle High School in New Orleans. Following his time at Rummel, he worked at Loyola University, De Le Salle and the Academy of the Sacred Heart before returning again to Rummel in 1989 as the Admissions Director for two years and then the Director of Development for eight years. Br. Gale currently serves as Vice-Principal for Development at The St. Paul’s School in Covington where he has been for eleven years.
The mission of Archbishop Rummel High School is to educate each student according to the principles of the Catholic Church in the Lasallian tradition of faith, community, and service. In a caring, disciplined environment of social awareness and academic excellence, Archbishop Rummel High School challenges each student to recognize the dignity of life and to develop and share, to the best of his ability, his unique talents.
Archbishop Rummel High School is a Catholic all boys school serving grades 8 to 12. It is located at 1901 Severn Ave. in Metairie, La.
