Mount Carmel Academy students recently participated in the “Cross Catholic Box of Joy” program, a Christmas gift outreach organized by Catholic schools, parishes and groups nationwide.
By packing Boxes of Joy with toys and other gifts, students bless children suffering from extreme poverty by sharing the joy of Christmas and planting seeds of hope through the Gospel.
Each Mount Carmel Academy homeroom and club received a box to fill. Each box was purchased with money ($9 for each box) collected at the Back to Brown school fund-raiser held only for students at Mount Carmel Academy.
The boxes will go to children in need in Haiti, Guatemala or Honduras.
Each box contained notes to the children in Spanish or Kreyol (Haitian dialect), using the help of a student and teacher at Mount Carmel who speak Kreyol.
