Mount Carmel Academy has received a $5,000 STEM grant from the Toshiba America Foundation (TAF) to support robotics and engineering programs, provide equipment and parts, as well as additional opportunities for students to compete in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) competitions. MCA’s Robotics team members will benefit from soldering irons, power tools, Mecanum wheels and a competition set to take their club to the next level.
“We will be able to expand our creativity and innovation by buying new power tools, kits, and other necessities for the club,” senior Jasmin Nguyen, president of Mount Carmel’s Robotics Club, said. “We are empowered to explore the possibilities and go above and beyond while promoting women in STEM.”
Toshiba America Foundation’s grants fund projects designed by individual classroom teachers. This “direct-to-teacher” approach brings immediate results. TAF grants provide teachers with the tools they need to be more effective educators.
