LaForge named head of school at St. Michael

LaForge joins the administration at St. Michael’s with extensive experience in educational leadership in Catholic schools. She received her undergraduate degree from Tulane University and a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of New Orleans. 
    

From 2015-20, she was president/principal of St. Scholastica Academy in Covington. Prior to her tenure at St. Scholastica, LaForge supported educators in the community through her work with the School Leadership Center of Greater New Orleans. She also served as principal for 12 years at Stuart Hall School for Boys and for seven years at Ursuline Academy Elementary.

She served as vice president for programs for the School Leadership Center (SLC) of Greater New Orleans from 2012-15. Her primary responsibilities included leader training, instructional coaching and professional development in Catholic, private, charter and public schools throughout Louisiana.
    

Under her leadership, both Stuart Hall and Ursuline received the distinction of “No Child Left Behind” Blue Ribbon School of Excellence from the United States Department of Education.
    

Her career in education spans more than 35 years, beginning as a teacher and coach at Ursuline Academy, followed by her tenure as athletic director at Academy of the Sacred Heart. She has also served as an adjunct professor in the graduate school of education at Our Lady of Holy Cross College, now known as the University of Holy Cross.
