Home stretch for strategic plan

    Archbishop Gregory Aymond and representatives of the Office of Catholic Schools will meet with priests, school presidents and principals Sept. 24 to discuss recommendations of the strategic plan for Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
    The meeting will be held at Schulte Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Dr. Jan Lancaster, superintendent of Catholic schools, said Archbishop Aymond was “reviewing the recommendations of the strategic planning committee now” and would forward the recommendations two weeks before the meeting to all priests, school presidents and principals so they have a chance to review the proposals.
    Lancaster said the purpose of the meeting with the priests and school administrators is to “get their feedback and discuss the recommendations. After that meeting and consultation, the archbishop and I will develop an implementation plan that will be announced in mid-October.”
    Lancaster said she was grateful for the efforts of Dr. John Convey and Dr. Leonard DiFiore, education professors from The Catholic University of America, in leading the entire strategic planning committee through its work.
    “I am grateful, too, for the community’s input so far,” Lancaster said. “This has been a real collaborative effort to create a plan for a bright future for our schools.”
    Lancaster said the final recommendations are still a work in progress, and the input received at the meeting will be important in crafting the finished plan.
