Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond will officiate at the Blessing of Palms at 10:50 a.m. April 9 outside St. Louis Cathedral to open the observance of Holy Week,
followed by a procession into the Cathedral for the 11 a.m. Mass. There will also be a 5 p.m. Vigil Mass on April 8 and a 9 a.m. Mass on Palm Sunday. Blessing of the Palms will be at all Masses.
On Monday and Wednesday of Holy Week, April 10 and 12, Mass will be celebrated at 12:05 p.m. Confessions will be heard from 11:30 to 11:50 a.m. On April 11, the Chrism Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Aymond at 10 a.m.
On Holy Thursday, April 13, Archbishop Aymond will celebrate the 7 p.m. Mass in commemoration of the Lord’s Last Supper, followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 9:30 p.m. On Good Friday, Stations of the Cross will be held at noon, followed by confessions from 1 to 2:30 p.m. At 3 p.m., Archbishop Aymond will preside at the Passion of the Lord, including Veneration of the Cross and holy Communion.
On Holy Saturday, April 15, Archbishop Aymond will preside at the Easter Vigil at 8 p.m., beginning with the blessing of the new fire and the lighting of the Paschal candle outside the cathedral.
On Easter Sunday, Archbishop Aymond will celebrate Mass at 11 a.m. This Mass will be followed by an Easter egg hunt. Other Easter Masses will be celebrated at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Immaculate Conception Church (Jesuit), 130 Baronne St.: Palm Sunday Vigil Mass will be on Saturday at 4 p.m., preceded by confessions from 3 to 3:50 p.m. Palm Sunday Masses will be at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The evening Mass will be preceded by adoration/rosary and confessions from 7 to 7:20 p.m. Vigil Mass and all Sunday Masses will include the blessing and distribution of palms.
On Monday through Wednesday, Masses will be at 7:30 a.m. and noon, with confessions heard from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
On Holy Thursday, Mass will be at 7 p.m., followed by adoration until 9 p.m. On Good Friday, the church will open at 7 a.m. for pilgrims, prayer and veneration of a relic of the True Cross. Morning Prayer will take place at 7:30 a.m. Stations of the Cross will be prayed at noon. Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion (with Communion) will be at 3 p.m. Confessors will be available from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
On Holy Saturday, morning prayer will be at 7:30 a.m. There will be no confessions heard on Saturday. The Easter Vigil will be celebrated at 8 p.m. Masses on Easter Sunday will be at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The evening Mass will be preceded by adoration/rosary and confessions from 7 to 7:20 p.m.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, 411 N. Rampart St.: Palm Sunday Vigil Mass will be at 4 p.m. Palm Sunday Masses are at 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. (Spanish) and 6 p.m. Holy Thursday Mass will be at 7 p.m. On Good Friday, Stations of the Cross will be at noon and Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion at 3 p.m., with confessions from 10 a.m. to noon. Confessions on Holy Saturday will be heard from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The Easter Vigil is at 8 p.m. Easter Masses will be 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. (Spanish) and 6 p.m.
St. Joseph Church, 1802 Tulane Ave.: Palm Sunday Masses with Blessing of the Palms will be at the 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Masses. Holy Thursday Mass will be at 6:30 p.m. On Good Friday, services begin at 3 p.m. with the Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion, Liturgy of the Word, veneration of the Cross and Communion. The Easter Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 8 p.m. Saturday, with Easter Sunday Mass at 10 a.m. There will not be an 8:30 p.m. Mass on Easter Sunday.
St. Patrick Church, 724 Camp St.: Palm Sunday Vigil Mass will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, with palms blessed at the beginning of Mass. Palm Sunday Masses will be at 8, 9 (Latin Mass) and 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The 9 a.m. Solemn Mass will be preceded by a solemn blessing of palms and procession.
Monday through Wednesday, Masses are at 11:30 a.m. and noon. Holy Thursday Mass will be at 7:30 p.m., followed by Watch of the Altar of Repose until midnight. The church will open at 7:30 a.m. on Good Friday for visitation. At noon, the Stations of the Cross will be prayed. The Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion will be celebrated at 3 p.m. At all services on Good Friday, there will be a special blessing with the relic of the True Cross.
On Holy Saturday, the Easter Vigil will begin at 8 p.m. There will be no 5:30 p.m. Mass. The Masses on Easter Sunday will be at 7:30, 9 (“Vida Aquam,” Procession, and Solemn High Mass in Latin) and 11 a.m. (procession and Mass in English), and 5:30 p.m. At both the 9 and 11 a.m. Masses, St. Patrick’s Choir will sing W.A. Mozart’s Organ Solo Mass. Confessions will be heard before all Holy Week Masses.
St. John the Baptist Church, 1139 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.: The church will be open on Good Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
