A natural progression of our weekly column in the Clarion Herald and blog
The best in Catholic news and inspiration - wherever you are!
As Lent approaches, so do the six issues of meatless recipes that the Clarion Herald publishes in our popular “Holy Smoke” section.
We know there are terrific cooks of every ethnic background in New Orleans, and, this year, we are asking you to participate in Holy Smoke by submitting your favorite meatless recipe for publication in the Clarion Herald.
The recipe could be a main entree, an appetizer, dessert or vegetable – as long as it does not contain meat.
We’d like to get a history of the recipe, any funny story – if you have one – from maybe the first time you cooked it, especially if it was passed down through the generations, obtained on a honeymoon or special trip to an exotic land or created as a family activity or even for a fair (like a tried-and-true Men’s Club seafood gumbo, fried fish or shrimp platter with cole slaw).
Deadline for recipes: no later than Thursday, Feb. 20. Please include your name, where you live and any contact information (home or cell phone or email address) and send to: Clarion Herald, Holy Smoke, 1000 Howard Ave., Suite 400, New Orleans, LA 70113 or email [email protected] or [email protected].
