Five members of Academy of Our Lady’s Key Club recently visited the residents at Woldenberg Village in New Orleans.
Senior Rachelle Sancho of Avondale, senior Kaylin Bair of Marrero, senior Amber Verdin of Westwego, freshman Kidron Romoser of New Orleans and freshman Sanaa Frazier of New Orleans assisted with set up for a Hawaiian-themed barbecue for the residents. The students also served the residents while getting to know them.
It was the first Key Club service project for Sancho.
“The residents were sweet and adorable,” Sancho said. “Being able to help them have a great time and be happy was just a wonderful experience.”
The club volunteered after learning that Woldenberg needed help to set up, decorate and serve at the barbecue. “I gained confidence helping at this event,” Sancho said.
Woldenberg Village serves people of all faiths and recognizes the diversity of religious affiliations among its residents. Religious services are offered throughout the week, including Mass and Shabbat.
