NOLA Catholic Experience, an increasingly popular blogging site for the Archdiocese of New Orleans, is celebrating its first anniversary this month by asking local Catholics to submit their personal reflections.
“We love getting feedback on our posts, and right now we’re asking for locals to submit their own ‘NOLA Catholic Experiences,’” said Sarah C. McDonald, archdiocesan director of communications.
Reflections may be sent for consideration to Anna Toujas at [email protected].
The site – www.nola catholicexperience.word press.com – has received more than 50,000 hits and is averaging about 100 hits per day, McDonald said.
“It’s exciting when we see that we have readers all over the world,” McDonald said. “We have a dedicated reader in India and another in the United Kingdom, so it really speaks to the power of evangelization through social media.”
McDonald said what makes the NOLA Catholic Experience site distinctive is that it offers “several voices blogging about their unique experiences.”
“We get a lot of positive feedback about that,” she said. “It’s amazing what an example some of our bloggers give us about finding God in the simple things and the everyday things in life. I don’t think our bloggers realize the impact they have on our readers.”
The site currently lists the Top 10 blog posts during the past year.
