The Greater New Orleans Foundation, along with donors, presents its inaugural GiveNOLA Day on May 6. From 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on that day, individuals are encouraged to give online to nonprofit organizations in our community that are making a difference in the lives of others.
Every dollar donated will be increased with “lagniappe” dollars from the Greater New Orleans Foundation and GiveNOLA Day sponsors. Donors are asked to give a minimum of $10.
Built on successful models from other cities, GiveNOLA raises money for the community, brings new donors to local nonprofits and helps make our region a more vital place to live.
This year, GiveNOLA Day is tied to the national "Give Local America" on the same day where community foundations nationwide are asking their communities to donate to keep them going.
Local Catholic 501(c)(3) nonprofits that are participating include Cafe' Reconcile, Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans, Daughters of Charity Foundation of New Orleans, Hope House, Ozanam Inn, Our Lady of Holy Cross College, Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School, Mercy Endeavors Senior Activity Learning Center (which will have coffee and donuts, give tours and offer a donation center from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; and host a happy hour reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Cole Pratt Gallery, 3800 Magazine St.), St. Mary's Academy Alumnae Association, St. Michael Special School and St. Patrick Church.
Donations can be made at www.givenola.org.
