Catholic Community Radio (CCR) has launched a weekly Contemporary Catholic music program titled, “Overflow,” said CCR president David Dawson Sr.
“Overflow” is a groundbreaking, one-hour program, distributed nationally to Catholic radio stations. It is hosted by Kara Klein-Oubre and Chris Price.
It airs every Friday at 4 p.m. on three radio stations: WQNO 690 AM in New Orleans and WPYR 1380 AM and WPYR-LPFM in Baton Rouge.
Klein-Oubre is a Catholic recording artist and songwriter, and Price is a former television sportscaster. Their friendship and faith led them to become volunteers for Catholic Community Radio.
Price enjoyed listening to several Catholic artists and was interested in hosting a weekly music program. He suggested “Overflow” as a title because the word is used in 1 Thessalonians.
The program will use social media to promote new programs and also will have a website for podcasts and blogs.
“Overflow” made its debut on Nov. 22, the Feast of St. Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians. There are several weeks of programs ready for distribution, including Christmas music programming.
