St. Joseph Altars Dear St. Joseph Altar Coordinators:
Thank you for your commitment to the tradition of St. Joseph’s Altars in New Orleans. This is a beautiful legacy that we are happy to see passed down to younger generations. In light of the rise in the number of Coronavirus diagnosis in the area, we are sharing with you some guidance as you welcome your community to your altars:
Please consider placing hand sanitizer at the entrances and exits of your altar.
Please be sure that bathrooms are fully stocked with soap and disposable hand towels for those washing their hands and that those areas are checked regularly to ensure cleanliness and supplies.
Please refrain from any buffet-style serving of the public in favor of a cafeteria-style serving where individuals with gloves and hairnets serve food and beverages to limit the amount of contact.
Please encourage greetings that do not involve physical contact.
Church and school leaders are continuing to monitor the situation and are in contact with local health professionals for guidance as well as consulting with local healthcare professionals in regard to Coronavirus and infectious disease prevention. Medical experts and infectious disease professionals have emphasized that maintaining good hygiene and staying away from school or work when ill are critical to keeping our community as healthy as possible. As a result, we are reinforcing the following practices:
-emphasize actions such as staying home when sick
-appropriately covering coughs and sneezes
-cleaning frequently touched surfaces
- washing hands often

information, etc. Below are a few that may be useful.
