Easter Mass and N.O.’s 300th celebrated April 20 at Brother Martin

Brother Martin High School held its annual Easter liturgy April 20 with a nod to the tricentennial anniversary of the city of New Orleans.

Father Paul Hart, school chaplain and 1970 alumnus, celebrated the Mass, calling it “a celebration of faith, hope and love. The greatest is love. Love helps us to know that God loves us and that we have been chosen. As Christians we have been given the power of faith, hope and prayer. … the future is in your hands and of course, in God’s.” 

  

Seniors, on the cusp of graduation, led the Mass as acolytes, ministers of holy Communion, chorus members and lectors. Senior Alex Genois, who recited the first reading, also built a mission cross that was on display in the center of the gym where the Mass was celebrated. 

Father Hart told the student body and faculty that “only God can provide us with unconditional love.” In 2019, the high school will celebrate its 50th anniversary and 150th anniversary of the Sacred Heart Brothers in New Orleans.
