St. Mary’s Dominican High’s annual Thanksgiving basket drive filled 100 baskets with donations from homerooms, clubs, athletic teams; 20 baskets from St. Rita Catholic Church and School; and 12 from Dominican alumnae, who also contributed to $25 Walmart gift cards.
The drive equated to 1,000 meals for families in the Gert Town community, Dominican’s neighbors.
Leidenheimer Baking donated more than 100 bags of rolls and breadcrumbs. St. Rita and Mary Queen of Peace Church in Mandeville donated turkeys to complete the Thanksgiving baskets.
Dominican’s Campus Ministry club officers and members organized the baskets and assisted with pick-up by Dominican Dads’ Club members. The baskets were delivered to the Xavier University Community Outreach Center, where campus ministry officers assisted with the distribution.
