At a recent Louisiana Association of Student Councils (LASC) state convention held at Archbishop Hannan High School, De La Salle junior Ben Calico, above, was elected the District 1 Student Council State president. Among his duties will be to present a monthly newsletter, organize a leadership workshop, promote attendance at conventions and workshops, form new student councils in his district, organize district projects and activities, and work with the district advisor. He enjoys working to enhance school spirit and has been very involved in the student council community at De La Salle. Of all that he has done at school, Ben said his biggest thrill was having his art design selected to be printed on T-shirts for “Hoop Week” on campus.
