With the LHSAA state track and field championship meet in sight, local high school districts were set to stage their individual meets this week.
The District 9-5A meet was scheduled to take place April 23 at Tad Gormley Stadium. The participants were Brother Martin, St. Augustine, Jesuit, Archbishop Rummel, Archbishop Shaw and Holy Cross in the 17 boys’ events, and Dominican, Mount Carmel and Archbishop Chapelle in the girls’ meet. Field events were set for 3:30 p.m., with running events at 6 p.m.
District 11-3A scheduled its meet for April 23 at Joe Yenni Stadium. Field events were set for 3 p.m.
John Curtis, which moved up from Class 2A, was the team favorite but challenged by McMain, De La Salle, St. Charles Catholic and Lusher in the boys’ events.
The same schools were joined by the Academy of the Sacred Heart, St. Katharine Drexel Prep and Louise McGehee in girls’ events.
Yenni Stadium also was the site for the District 9-4A meet April 24, where Cabrini was set to defend its 2013 team title against Ursuline Academy, Ben Franklin, Riverdale, Warren Easton and host East Jefferson.
Field events were scheduled for 4 p.m.
