Deacon Theodore (Ted) J. Roussel, a native of Destrehan, died on Nov. 14 at the age of 83. A funeral Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond on Nov. 21 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Destrehan.
Interment followed at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
Deacon Roussel was ordained on Dec. 4, 1993, by Archbishop Francis B. Schulte.
He served at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Destrehan and at Holy Family Church in Franklinton.
Deacon Roussel was chaplain at Rayburn Correctional Center in Angie.
He is survived by his children, Danny (Ann) of Destrehan; Linda Roussel Wimberly (Benjamin) of Foley, Alabama; Wayne (Candice), Sandra Roussel O’Brien (Matthew) of Destrehan; Debby Roussel Dumas (Dennis) of Lafayette; and Mark (Jeannine) of LaPlace; and his sister, Elaine Dugas of Marrero.
