Deacon Larry D. Oney, who serves as a permanent deacon at St. Louis Cathedral and Our Lady of Grace Parish in Reserve, has been elected chair of the new 15-member board of regents for Our Lady of Holy Cross College.
Deacon Oney was appointed to the board in October, and officers were elected at the board’s first meeting. Deacon Oney is chair of Hammerman & Gainer International, a Lutcher-based firm that provides an array of business management services. The company also has offices in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and in Austin, Lubbock and Irving, Texas.
In addition to Deacon Oney, the other members of the executive committee of the board of regents are Kyle France, vice chair of the board of regents and chair of the enrollment management and student development committee; Glenn Gennaro, chair of the academic affairs committee; Marianite Sister Ann Lacour, chair of the philanthropy and stewardship committee; Daughter of Charity Sister Ellen Kron, chair of the corporate governance committee; and Steve Worley, chair of the finance and audit committee.
Marianite Sister Suellen Tennyson, chair of the Members of the Corporation Board, said the members have begun a search process in collaboration with a consulting firm, R.H. Perry & Associates to select the college’s new president. The firm began conducting focus groups on campus last week.
Dr. Myles Seghers is serving as interim president for the 2011-12 academic year.
“We will initiate a national search with the formation of a search committee,” she said. “We expect that the search will be completed by the start of the next academic year.”
Sister Suellen said OLHCC is “fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and the Members of the Corporation are committed to the college remaining in compliance with all of their standards now and in the future.”
Other members of the board of regents are Christian Brother Donald Blauvelt, Marianite Sister Keri Burke, Marguerite Celestin, G. Price Crane Jr., Marianite Sister Gretchen Dysart, Terry Fonseca, Pam Lincoln, S. Gordon Reese III and Dennise V. Sauvage.
