Deacon Keller dies at 88

Deacon Lawrence “Larry” Keller died July 17 at John Hinkle Nursing Home. He was 88 years old. A funeral Mass was celebrated July 22 at St. Augustine Church in New Orleans.
Deacon Keller was ordained on May 23, 1975, by Archbishop Philip M. Hannan and was active in ministry until his retirement in October 2004. He entered formation from St. Augustine Parish where he served as a deacon until 2001. He was appointed to St. Theresa of the Child Jesus in January 2001.
Deacon Keller was a painter by profession and possessed a humble heart of service. He is preceded in death by his wife, Iona Molizone Keller, and  son, Clarence. He is survived by his children, Lawrence Jr., Richard V. and Iona M. Rayfield, wife of Deacon Rudy Rayfield, executive director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
