Deacon Everett J. Williams laid to rest Aug. 2

Archbishop Gregory Aymond concelebrated a funeral Mass for Deacon Everett J. Williams with Archbishops Alfred Hughes and Dominic Carmon on Aug. 2 at St. Rita Church in New Orleans.   Above) Archbishop Aymond sprinkled the casket with holy water at the beginning of Mass as a sign of Deacon Williams' baptism. (Below) Archbishop Hughes incensed the casket as a symbol of our prayers rising to God. Deacon Williams has been a deacon since 1985 and last served as deacon and financial administrator of Blessed Sacrament-St. Joan of Arc from 2009 until he became ill earlier this year.
