"We played like ducks and walked in the rain," said Archbishop Gregory Aymond about the faithful he led June 2 in the annual Corpus Christi procession from Our Lady of Prompt Succor Shrine on State Street to Holy Name of Jesus Church on St. Charles Avenue. "It's a bold witness that we truly believe in the Blessed Sacrament and that he is in us." Along the route, the procession stopped for prayer at altars or repose erected by the African-American community, the Latino community and the Vietnamese community. Archbishop Aymond Jesus to forgive his people for the "blood that is shed on our streets through violence, murder and racism." The procession ended with benediction inside Holy Hame of Jesus Church followed by free Plum Street snowballs outside the church on St. Charles Avenue.
