Michael Kirsch of Brother Martin-based Peake BMW (2) was a step too late to score against Refuel as the Archbishop Shaw-based catcher Matt Keller took a throw from the outfield and subsequently tagged the base-runner. Peake salvaged a 4-3 victory, but Refuel made it to the Southeast Louisiana finals. Both teams join Deanie’s (Archbishop Rummel), Retif Oil (Jesuit) and Otto Candies (Hahnville) in the American Legion state tournament, which begins July 19.
