Since her eighth-grade year as a student at St. Mary’s Academy, Tomyree Thompson has been a standout on the basketball court, having averaged more than 20 points per game over that five-year period.
Now a senior and the school’s No. 2 career scoring leader behind the great Shondra Johnson, Thompson has been an offensive force. Her achievements have earned a future career at the University of New Orleans. Thompson also earned accolades as the Clarion Herald Elite Girls Basketball Team’s Outstanding player.
On the other side of town, Chris Goff led Ursuline Academy to a 19-6 record, including the District 11-3A championship and the No. 2 seed in the LHSAA’s Division II state playoffs.
For his achievement in his second year as the Lions’ head coach, Goff is selected as the Elite Team’s Coach of the Year.
