Christopher Homes increases efforts to protect the health of senior residents

Every year around this time, the organization takes proactive measures to protect the health of the residents due to “flu season.” With the recent spread of Coronavirus within our city, Christopher Homes is increasing standard procedures and following the CDC’s recommended protocols.
 

“In our mission statement, we commit to ‘strive to truly care about the well-being of each of our residents, and to respond to their needs accordingly.’  We take that commitment seriously,” explains Deacon Dennis F. Adams, executive director of Christopher Homes. " In this time of trial and uncertainty, Christopher Homes management and staff is doing all we can to protect our residents. These measures may result in temporary changes to routines and challenges to residents and family members but we trust everyone will realize their importance and cooperate for the good of our seniors.” 

 

Christopher Homes is in communication with its residents and staff regarding the internal efforts to minimize the transmission of the virus, and staff has provided residents with information on maintaining good hygiene and protecting themselves from illness according to CDC protocol. Prior to the increase of confirmed cases in our area over the last few days, many properties held residents meetings with informed staff as well a local physician to discuss illness prevention.
 

Visitors will be screened upon entry to the properties, and large resident gatherings on property and off-site field trips will be postponed. In keeping with our faith and community traditions, the St. Joseph’s Altars hosted by two of our properties will still take place, but limited to only residents within that property.
The food programs offered to our residents will continue as these meals provide vital nutrition for the health and wellbeing of our elderly.
 

Christopher Homes’ priority is keeping residents safe and healthy at all times, and especially during these unusual circumstances. The organization will continue to monitor information disseminated by government and health authorities and will adjust procedures, as needed, to effectively care for its residents.
