Students at Christian Brothers are fully ensconced in their school’s new addition
(pictured above) featuring four large classrooms and an 8,000-square-foot cultural center/gym used for school Masses, P.E., indoor intramurals, drama productions and other gatherings. (Commencement photo courtesy of Christian Brothers; all others by Beth Donze)
Tim Collins (left), Christian Brothers’ athletic director, arranges shoulder pads in the gym’s equipment room. Each floor-to-ceiling shelving unit can be moved at the press of a button, allowing easy access to seasonal equipment.
The four new classrooms embrace a central courtyard (above). The space will soon include a statue of St. Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, founder of the Christian Brothers order. In other campus news, the former gymnasium space on the second floor of the original school building will soon complete its transformation into Christian Brothers’ new library, science lab and computer lab.
A cross dominates the massive window above the Cultural Center stage.
The new building hosted its first major event last May: commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2011.
